Mary Hayward: lifelong Babylonian
      Mary Elizabeth Ryan Hayward, a well-known Babylon native who taught swimming at the Babylon Yacht Club and was golf tournament winner many times over, died August 18, 2007 at North Shore University Hospital. Linda Capitano, Lindenhurt resident and LHS graduate, class of 1969
      Linda Capitano, a Lindenhurst resident and a graduate of Lindenhurst High School Class of 1969, died of ovarian cancer August 2, 2007. She was 57- years-old, and described by her family as a vibrant woman who did not let anything, including her illness, alter her outgoing, loving spirit. And, despite difficulties and tragedies in her life, she always rose to the occasion.

John Bergaglio: W. Gilgo Beach resident, former Amityville Kiwanis president
     Former Amityville resident John J. Bergaglio, Jr., who relished spending time on the beach near his West Gilgo Beach home, died August 8, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. He was 68-years-old and lived in Amityville for almost 15 years. From 1970 to 1971, he served as president of the Amityville Kiwanis and loved to dabble in local politics.
