      Gustave "Gus" K. Schmitt, Jr., longtime owner of Keyser's Flowers in Babylon, died April 5, 2007 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 77 years old. He was born May 28, 1929 in Elmsford, New York and spent most of his life on Lucinda Drive in Babylon. In 1985 he retired from the flower business and moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1987.

      Joseph W. Chasas, a World War II veteran who was born in Babylon, died in North Carolina February 24, 2007. A memorial service for him will be held June 8, at St. Joseph's, R.C. Church, Babylon, at 9:45 a.m. A reception will follow at Hibernian Hall, Locust Ave., Babylon.

Carol Brown, longtime Macy's employee
      Carol Brown, a longtime resident of Carle Place and the mother of Dr. Jonathan and Mrs. Sue Wigderson of Indiana, formerly of Lindenhurst, died Tuesday, May 29 following a brief illness. She was 64-years-old. Her son and daughter-in-law are former Brunswick Hospital Center employees.
