Parliament Place Elementary School in the North Babylon School District has been selected as a recipient of a 2006-2007 Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant in the amount of $5,000. Gustave "Gus" K. Schmitt, Jr., longtime owner of Keyser's Flowers in Babylon, died April 5, 2007 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida. He was 77 years old. He was born May 28, 1929 in Elmsford, New York and spent most of his life on Lucinda Drive in Babylon. In 1985 he retired from the flower business and moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1987. More...
