Local Boy Scout organizes environmental clean-up

2007-04-18 / People/Social

For his Boy Scout Eagle Project, Tyler Kenny organized an environmental clean-up project along Little Neck Creek between Reade Avenue and Hickory Street, Lindenhurst. The project included organizing an army of volunteers to help remove garbage, debris, litter, leaves and branches from the creek bed and from the adjacent area of the creek. Mayor Thomas Brennan said "during rain storms the debris generally washes along the creek in the canal and then into the Great South Bay. By removing the debris before it gets into the canal it helps to reduce pollutants from entering our waterways and therefore helps keep our bay water clean."

Shown in the photo, supporting this project are Deputy administrator Douglas Madlon, Trustee Michael Lavorata, Trustee Jodi Caravella, Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey, Tyler Kenny, Mayor Thomas Brennan, Trustee Maryann Weckerle, Chris Kenny and Tyler's dad Ed Kenny.
