The girls varsity tennis team ended one of its most successful seasons in the school’s history recently by winning the Division II League III team championship. The girls also placed sixth in the Suffolk team tournament. The teams final record was 14 wins and three losses. The captains were Meg McAteer and Kristin Alotta.

This past week the girls entered the Division II individual championships held at East Islip High School. Kristin Alotta became the first fivetime Division II singles champion in school history. Meg McAteer and Mackenzie Kurek placed third earning them All-County honors. During the Suffolk County championship held at Shoreham High School, Alotta placed third in singles receiving All State honors and a trip up to Syracuse for the New York State Tennis championships. She challenged the #5 seeded in the state to a three set competitive match.

Coach Lewis who coached his 20th season in West Islip and earned his 200th win with this team has certainly enjoyed working with these outstanding players and more importantly people. The team was self-motivated, respectful and committed.
