Caumsett State Historic Park schedule of events

Caumsett State Historic Park in Lloyd’s Neck, Huntington offers the following interpretative programs in the winter of 2007. An adult must accompany children under 14 years of age. There will be a fee of $3 per adult, $2 per child. A $6 parking fee must be paid during the fee collection season. Advance reservations are required. To register, call (631-423-1770) between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please call and cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please be prompt. If others are waiting, your place may be given to them if you have not arrived when the program starts. Outdoor programs will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately.

Programs include:

Adult Ed-ventures for ages 18 and up; winter seasonal stroll; Sunday, January 14, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. On this short stroll, discover that nature is beautiful and interesting in winter too.

Maple Sugaring: Sunday, January 28, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Sunday, February 11, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Saturday, February 24, 1:30 to 3 p.m. This outdoor, hands-on program will teach you how to identify and tap maple trees for syrup.

Just a Hike: Center Section, Sunday, February 18, 1 to 3:15 p.m. A six-mile, hilly, moderately paced hike affording walkers uninterrupted exercise and socializing..

Birding Basics For Beginners: Sunday, March 4, 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. This hands-on program will introduce adults to birds & their adaptations. Bring binoculars.

Introduction to Wilderness Survival: Saturday, March 10, 1 to 3 p.m. In this hands-on program, we’ll teach you how to find food, start a fire and build shelter.

Bird Walk for Beginners: Sunday March 18 2:15 – 4 p.m. Novice adult birders will observe birds at feeders, in captivity & in the wild. Bring binoculars.

Bike, Bird, Beach, Botany: Saturday, March 24, 10 a.m. to1 p.m. Bike to the mansion, go beach combing learn about plants.

History of Caumsett: Sunday, April 1, 2 to 4 p.m. A hilly, two-mile walk; studying the park’s social, economic, architectural and political history. Reservations required for sll programs 631- 423-1770
