George Archer: former Babylon Village Postman

Former longtime North Babylon resident George T. Archer died August 22, 2006 at his home in Seminole, Florida. He was 84 years old and was a retired U.S. Postal Service carrier.

Born in Manhattan, he proudly served in the Army during World War II based in England and later lived in North Babylon for about 30 years. He worked as a letter carrier in both the Babylon Village and the Washington D.C. areas for 37 years.

According to his family, he loved tennis, golf, jazz and his three Daschunds. He was also an avid reader and Christian who volunteered at the Largo Medical Center at Largo, Florida.

Mr. Archer leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Betty Ann; his daughters: Linda McGregor and her husband Michael of Sayville and Barbara Flutz and her husband Thomas of Advance, North Carolina; his step-children: Theresa Williams of New Port Richey, Florida and David Michael Travelstead of Largo, Florida; his grandchildren: Ellen McGregor of Cleveland, Ohio, Karen McGregor-Lucchesi of her husband Anthony of Campbell, California, Brian Fultz of Redondo Beach, California and Patrick Fultz of Boulder, Colorado, Melissa, Rachel and Josh; as well as other loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret.

A prayer service for Mr. Archer was held at his home, attended by his family members and friends, followed by private cremation.
