West Islip announces its Suffolk Zone winners
Karen Federico and Justin Turri are West Islip’s Suffolk Zone winners for this school year, as announced by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Selection is based on exceptional physical performance, scholastic ability and leadership. Federico is an All-County field hockey and lacrosse athlete who is ranked 16th in the Class of 2007. She is undecided at this point which college she will attend in the fall. Turri is number two in the senior class, captain of the football team and is an All- County lacrosse player and an All-Conference basketball athlete. He will be attending Duke University in the fall, where he will play lacrosse.
