Ole' St. Nick shops in Babylon Village: Santa was on hand for the annual Old-Fashioned Nite of Shopping in Babylon Village. Inclement weather and high winds cnaceled the event scheduled for Dec. 1, but it went off without a hitch (except for the hitch on Santa's horse drawn carriage) the following week. Above, left, ballet students Dana and Danica from Positions Dance Studio are shown performing a five-minute scene from the Nutcracker Ballet in the window of the dance studio. This live entertainement, coordinated by the Babylon Village Arts Council, was a new feature of the event this year. Further north on Deer Park Avenue, children performed a scene from The Night Before Christmas in the former Fox Framing shop window.
Above right, Vintage Bleu shop glows in its holiday finery. Shopkeeper Fran Messina said the Old- Fashioned Nite of Shopping is a great way to bring people into Babylon. Her store specializes in a mixture of Victorian and "shabby chic" giftware.
Above, Santa makes his way in his horse-drawn carriage through the busy Village streets. The event is sponsored by the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce.
