West Islip kids make a difference

Shown in the photo are some of the students as they display the donations they’ve collected. With them, back row, left to right, are Donamarie Belford, Gerri Wilkins, Arlene Lace, Ms. Shierant, Ms. Brodsky and Asst. Principal Dawn Morrison.
In cooperation with Make a Difference Day (Kids Helping Kids), the nation’s Food Bank Network asks residents to help others in need through food drives. The Network says that three million people help 20 million others during the fourth week in October. At the Beach Street Middle School in West Islip, main office secretary Jo-Ann Brodsky chaired the project for sixth, seventh and eighth graders, who were eager to help eradicate hunger in this country. Principal Anne Shierant praised Brodsky saying, “Jo-Ann’s organizational skills are outstanding and her love of children is demonstrated on a daily basis.”
