Lindenhurst students share their Halloween spirit

Recently, the senior citizens at the Lindenhurst Rainbow Center were paid a visit by countless witches, princesses, ninjas, and super heroes. For the 17th year in a row, first grade students from Harding Avenue Elementary School dressed in their Halloween best to share their holiday spirit with the seniors of Lindenhurst. Teachers Jessica Ciampi and Karen Newman spent many weeks preparing the students for their special visit.

Upon their arrival, the first graders paraded through the Rainbow Center, bringing smiles to faces of all in attendance. They then serenaded the crowd with such “haunting” songs as Trick-or Treat and In the Graveyard. The students also presented pumpkins to the senior citizens and asked them to join in on dancing the Chicken Dance and Hokey-Pokey.

First grade student Samantha Ricciardi stated, “I’m excited to be here because they are older than us and we never get to see them. It makes me very happy.” John Ceci, a former president of the Board of Education and a member of the Rainbow Center was thrilled with the Halloween performance. He said, “The students were just amazing.”
