Senator Owen Johnson supports PET/CT scanner system
Senator Owen Johnson recently presented Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with $100,000 for its PET/CT system. The new system allows for a faster way to “see and treat” cancer. The GE Discovery ST, a redesigned PET/CT system, is completely optimized for cancer care. Similar to weather patterns overlaying a map of the United States, Good Sam’s new PET/CT scanner joins two revolutionary technologies in one “picture.” The system integrates an advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner with the fastest and most sophisticated, multi-slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner all in a single exam. It is capable of 2-D and 3-D imaging, with a larger bore for all patient studies or sizes. This system provides physicians with greater sensitivity, speed, resolution and diagnostic confidence when treating cancer patients.
