William Taylor: Amityville resident & Lindenhurst businessman
Born December 21, 1928 in Brooklyn to John Benjamin and Lavina (Uhlein), he grew up in Amityville and later proudly served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. He started his business in his mid-20s and during its 40 years of operation had re-roofed hospitals and schools all over Long Island and the 5-boroughs. After living in Copiague for some time, he moved back to Amityville and lived there for 23 years. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water and with his family who described him as very patriotic, generous and charitable. Mr. Taylor leaves behind his children: William H. Jr. and his wife Laurie of Amityville, Dawn M. Buenten of East Islip, Ronald G. and his wife Rosemary of West Islip, Janet M. Bendetti and her husband George of Massapequa Park, Deborah L. Trentadue and her husband Anthony of St. James and Pamela Catroppa and her husband Raymond of Massapequa; his grandchildren: William H. III, Stephanie Marie, John M., Steven H. Buenten, Zachary Buenten, Jennifer Leigh Buenten, Ashley Rose, Olivia Rose, Michael Greschuk, George William Bendetti, Sophia Marie Bendetti, Kiera Bendetti, Taylor Patricia Trentadue and Mia Pamela Trentadue; his sisters: Jessie Bandel and Marilyn Vermillion; his special friends: Bob and Virginia Froelich; as well as other loved ones and family members. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Patricia in 1994. The Reverend Jeffrey Skopak, pastor, St. James Lutheran Church, officiated at the Funeral Service on November 9, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home Inc., in Amityville. A private cremation was held November 10, 2006 at Washington Memorial Park, Mount Sinai, with Military Honors.
