Student Council elections at South Bay

South Bay Elementary School in West Babylon recently held its annual student council elections. Twelve fifth grade students ran to hold positions such as secretary, president and treasurer who would make decisions on school spirit and community service activities throughout the year. Four students were elected to the council via process of secret ballot.

Shown, left to right, are Jonathan Mingione, president; Olivia Furnari, secretary; Kelsey Hammel, treasurer; and Paige Retaleato, vice president. These students are already working on their first community service project, titled Operation TOY (Thinking Of You) in which students will send letters and beanie babies to those serving in the armed forces.
