New appointment at Good Samaritan Hospital

Joanne Hammel recently joined Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center as program coordinator of Volunteer Services. Her role includes providing assistance to all hospital departments, to assess needs for volunteer manpower and broadening the pool of qualified volunteers.

Hammel received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Molloy College with a minor is elementary education/special education. Prior to joining Good Samaritan she was a pre-school teacher at The Carousel Pre-School in West Babylon, a crisis intervention teacher and special education teacher at Intermediate School 77 in Ridgewood and an elementary school teacher at St. Mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park.

She and her husband, Brian, reside in West Babylon with their three children, Brian, Jr., Kelsey and Liam.
