Police arrest man for robbing taxi driver in Deer Park
At about 7:45 p.m. a taxi driver for T & J Taxi was approached by a male and female in the Wyandanch train station for a ride to West 2nd St., Deer Park. At West 1st St. the cabbie was asked to pull over and let them out. The female exited the cab and the male then put an object to the neck of the victim and told him not to move or he would kill him. The subject took cash from the victim and fled on foot. A short time later First Precinct Officer Howard Shuman, responding to the call, observed a couple fitting the description of the suspects in the robbery entering another cab on Long Island Ave., Deer park. Officer Shuman detained the subjects who were subsequently arrested and transported to the First Precinct.
It was determined the female was unaware of the crime and she was unarrested and released. The male, Henry J. Brown, 29, of 430 35th St., Lindenhurst was charged with Robbery First Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip. No weapon was recovered.
