Students’ haunted house benefits Lionheart

West Islip High School juniors Andrea Kendrick and Samantha Sforza recently donated more than $2,700 to the West Islip Lionheart Fund. The girls recruited family and friends to create a Haunted House on Udall Road to celebrate Halloween weekend, requesting a $5 donation entry fee per person as a fund-raiser for Lionheart, a school district fund used to assist families experiencing a crisis. Andrea’s mom, Debbie, says that Bill Kendrick, Richie Hujik and Carmine Vitale built the house, which took them eight weeks. “Everything came together beautifully and the outcome was so rewarding,” she comments, adding that they want to thank everyone who supported their efforts.
