Beach Street pays tribute to Veterans

Students and staff at the Beach Street Middle School in West Islip paid their respects to local veterans during a special assembly entitled "A Tribute to Veterans," coordinated by Assistant Principal Dawn Morrison. The ceremony included a Military Roll Call of Honor at which point the name of each veteran present was called as the names of deceased veterans and those who could not participate on November 8th, were viewed

on large screens. All of the more than 25 veterans who attended are related to the students and staff. An American flag was folded and presented to teacher Donamarie Belford, who's father was a prisoner of war. At the conclusion, Taps was played, and several of the vets and their family members in the audience were visibly moved. American Legion Post 178 provided the Color Guard.
