Manetuck Elementary in West Islip sends candy to servicemen for the holidays

Students and staff at the Manetuck Elementary School in West Islip donated their treats from trickn treating to local troops serving overseas. Chairing the effort was parent Chrissy Cavagnet, right, standing with Principal Mary Anderson. Proud of their second annual collection in the Support Our Troops project, left to right, are Lauren DiStefano, Robert Mallimo, Matthew DiStefano, Zachary Cavagnet, Matthew Mallimo, and in her mom's arms, Dominique Cavagnet. Thanks to two local dentists who paid for the shipping, the candy boxes are bringing an American tradition to the servicemen and women serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Germany.
