Local residents appointed to the Long Island Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies
Local residents Dr. Michael Beck and Stanis Beck, of Babylon Village, were recently appointed to the Long Island Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies, a psychoanalytic training institute in Nassau County. They will be training people in the mental health field to further their education in this psychoanalytic study area. As part of their duties, they will be teaching courses in Freud's writings. Recently, Dr. Beck also began to teach a course on working with individuals in group therapy.
This appointment is in recognition of the many contributions that the Becks have made to the mental health field. This would include public service screenings in the community for anxiety, depression and substance use, frequent publications in professional journals and their involvement in their respective professional organizations. The Becks are editors and authors of two books: The Narcissistic Family Member, Aspects of Development and Treatment and 365 Questions for Couples, a book they coauthored with their daughter, Seanna Beck. It is based on a psychoanalytic model of communication which is designed to encourage couples to reconnect. The book is still in print and has sold over 40,000 copies worldwide.
The Becks are very happy to receive this current teaching appointment bestowed upon them in recognition of their work in the field of psychotherapy, supervision and couple counseling.
