Helen Brion, of Lindenhurst, was honored by the AARP New York State Office at its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony, held at the Milleridge Cottage in Jericho, Tuesday, October 31.
Brion was honored for her achievements as a National Retired Teacher's Association (NRTA) volunteer. AARP volunteers, chapters, and community partners joined her in celebrating their exceptional service and dedication to improving the lives of older New Yorkers.
"Today's celebration honors the long history AARP volunteers have of serving the needs of their community," said Lois Aronstein, AARP New York State Director. "Helen' s efforts and her spirit of volunteerism help us to redefine aging and enhance the lives of older New Yorkers everyday."
