Islip Art Museum to present Animal House

The Islip Art Museum presents Animal House, an exhibition which highlights artists who portray animals in order to make sometimes comic, sometimes critical observations about contemporary society.

The exhibition will be on view in the Museum's main galleries at Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Ln., East Islip from November 29, 2006 to January 28, 2007. A reception for artists will be held Sunday, December 10, 1 to 4 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.

Karen Shaw will serve as curator forAnimal House. Artists in the show include: Elizabeth Albert, Deborah Brown, Lauren Davies, Johnston Foster, Kathy Frey, Jill Greenberg, Kathleen

Henderson, Ester Hynerman, Ellen Lanyon, Eric Rhein and Victor A.S. Robinson

Regina Gilligan is the featured artist in a show curated byJanet Goleas in the Permanent Collection Gallery. Jason Paradis will be featured in the museum store.;

In addition to the reception, a tour of the exhibition followed by an informal tea on Thursday, December 7 and Thursday, January 4, 3 p.m. There is a $5 reservation fee, which must be paid in advance. To check availability call 631-224- 5402.

The Islip Art Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. To contact the museum call 631-224-5402.
