Islip Housing Authority praised by residents

Islip Town Supervisor Eric M. Hofmeister and the Town Board announced that the Islip Housing Authority's residents have responded to a survey conducted by the Public Housing Assessment System of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and rated Islip's public housing developments among the highest in the nation for maintenance and repair, communication, safety, services and appearance. The survey was sent randomly by HUD directly to residents and was returned anonymously to HUD.

"Meeting the needs of residents who require housing assistance is a high priority inIslip T own," said Supervisor Hofmeister. "It is especially gratifying

to see that those residents appreciate and acknowledge our diligence and attention in striving to meet their needs."

The Town of Islip Housing Authority offers 378 units of affordable housing at four housing complexes: Southwind Village in Bay Shore, Penataquit Village in Bay Shore, Allyn P. Robinson Village in Central Islip and Ockers Housing in Oakdale. These units are rented to those 50 years and older, as well as to disabled persons, and are so popular that the Housing Authority has developed a waiting list for interested persons.
