Local Marine pays visit to Daniel Street Elementary School in Lindenhurst

Shown in the photo is Marine and Lindenhurst High School alumnus Corporal Chris Greenhalgh with his brother, fifth grader Sean Greenhalgh.
Fifth grade students at Daniel Street Elementary School in Lindenhurst were recently visited by a true American hero: Corporal Christopher Greenhalgh of the U.S. Marine Corps. Corporal Chris, brother of Daniel Street student Sean Greenhalgh, graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 2003 and joined the marines following graduation. Corporal Chris visited the fifth graders at the beginning of the year and talked about life in the Marine Corps and his time stationed in Iraq.

He discussed everything from the physical training he underwent to the unique, six inch bugs his troops saw in Iraq. Corporal Chris was generous with his time and answered many questions from the curious fifth graders. He returned from Iraq three weeks ago and said with a smile, "It's very nice to be home."

Students in Adrian Enea's fifth grade class will write Corporal Chris throughout the school year as he heads back to his home station of Camp Pendelton in California.
