$23 a year for decent fields Dear Editor: I am writing in support of the Babylon School District bond issue that will allow the construction of a multipurpose turf field, tennis court, reconstruction and other improvements. I have lived in this community for over 20 years which I know makes me a "newcomer" in the eyes of many. But I have seen the changes and the growth of the sports program, and it's not just baseball and football. It's girls soccer, lacrosse. it's field hockey and boys lacrosse and soccer at all levels. Our student athletes have gone on to play sports in college as well as succeed in the classroom. Seventy percent of the student body participates in sports at the junior and high school level. For an average of $23 per household per year for 15 years, we can have a decent field for our students to play on.
