John Walbridge: longtime resident, active in Babylon Village

John R. Walbridge, a longtime Babylon Village resident who was active in many civic groups, died October 21, 2006 in West Islip, just two days shy of his 87th birthday.

Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Babylon Village at 7-years old and lived on Robbins Avenue. After his retirement as Senior Vice President of the Insurance Company of North America and President/ CEO of Inamar Ltd., he sat on the Babylon Planning Board and was the chairman of the Babylon Citizens Party.

Mr. Walbridge leaves behind his children: Robert W. and his wife Philomene, John W., W. Bennett and his wife Kathleen, Michelle E. and L. Gifford Foltz and her husband Ronald; his grandchildren: Kyle Keegan and his wife Dana, Melissa, Evan, Naky and John Wheatley; his great granddaughter, Kaliana Keegan; his sister, Dorothy W. King; as well as other loved ones and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Michelle K.

A memorial celebration of Mr. Walbridge's life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, 21 James Street, Babylon. Arrangements entrusted to the the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home.
