Islip Town releases 2007 tentative budget

Islip Town Supervisor Eric M. Hofmeister and the Town Board have announced that the 2007 tentative budget has been filed with the Town Clerk. The budget continues the Town's legacy of tax relief and stabilization, marking the thirteenth year that Islip has held the line on taxes. Having received a bond rating upgrade from AA to AA+ from Standard and Poor's and Aa2 from Moody's, the Town stands on solid ground as one of the highest rated municipalities on Long Island.

"The Town Board and I worked hard to present this budget, which

we feel answers the needs of the residents while continuing theTown's legacy of tax relief," said Supervisor Hofmeister.

Islip residents have enjoyed tax stabilization for the past 13 years, with residential taxes decreasing by as much as 13 percent, while the debt service has been lowered by more than $2.4 million since 1994.

The Tentative budget will be presented to the Town Board for adoption at a budget hearing on November 9. For more information about the 2007 Tentative Budget, contact the office of Public Information at 631-224-5485.
