Heard It On The Grapevine
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE visit family and friends at Good Sam every day, and last week "America's Mayor" and possible future Presidential candidate Rudy Guiliani was among them. We hear that he was visiting a friend who was a patient in our local hospital. IT WAS A FAMILY PARTY for Jane and TomKane as they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Manchester, Vermont. Family members who were able to share in the festivities were: their daughter Abby Boyle and granddaughters Samantha and Sara of Connecticut, their son "T.J." and his daughter Katie of Massachusetts and their daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Todd Shaw of Amityville. Needless to say, a great time was had by all. Our congratulations to a wonderful couple. We wish they many many more. EVERYONE LOVES MARY JANE DONAHUE, the lovely waitress at "The Parkwood." Caught up with her news of her very accomplished children after dinner at the well-known spot last week. Mary Jane and her husband Patrick are very proud of their four children who are such high achievers. Daughter Kourtney received a master's degree from Cork University in (where else?) Ireland after graduating from the state University of Plattsburg; their son Patrick is a candidate for the New York City Fire Department and will commence training this month; their daughter Nicole teaches school and coaches the women's lacrosse program in Orlando - she's a graduate of the State University at Albany; and daughter Carol is a student at Bucknell University and she also plays lacrosse. Congratulations to all! GOOD NEWS! Yes, the building on the northeast corner of Main Street and Deer Park Avenue will not be demolished. It has been sold and will be renovated by the new owners, but the historic village landmark will remain. The news comes from the highest source, our mayor Ralph Scordino who gave us the scoop at the B.H.S. football game last Saturday afternoon.
BRIDE TO BE: Rebecca Atkins was thrilled to have her grandmother help her select her wedding dress last weekend when "Mac" Beyers and her husband Dr. "Mitty" Beyers flew out to Indianapolis, Indianna and visited with Rebecca and her mother Sally Atkins for the fun occasion (we won't tell you the price - it was a schocker). The wedding is coming up next year, and we'll'' get the details later.
