Flu shots available at Massapequa and Bay Shore Malls This flu season, adults on Long Island will have the opportunity to get an affordable flu vaccination every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Sunday, December 17at Westfield South Shore in Bay Shore inside the center by the Sears entrance and Westfield Sunrise in Massapequa on the upper level near Macy's, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), "The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each fall." Up to 20 percent of the U.S. population gets the flu each year. The CDC recommends that consumers obtain the vaccination in October or November, as flu season may begin as early as October and last as long as May. The cost for a flu vaccination is $30 per shot. Pneumonia shots will also be available at a cost of $40. Vaccinations are provided by Retail Health Networks. Flu shots to be administered by an experienced professional staff licensed by the nursing association and state medical board. Please note that this program is only for those who are nine years of age or older. Retailer Health Networks will be accepting Medicare and Medicaid for all vaccinations, including those given at Westfield Centers.
