Audubon Society Reptile Program to be held Thursday, November 16

The Great South Bay Audubon Society will meet Thursday, November 16, 7 p.m. Peter Warny, "The Reptile Man," will present a program titled Reptiles, Habitats, Ecology and Conservation. This illustrated program will depict conservation and ecology projects to protect and study reptiles in both urban and rural landscapes along the east coast. Natural area preserves such as Audubon sanctuaries and wildlife refuges will be discussed along with wetland issues including invasive plants, pollution, parasites, diseases, habitat fragmentation and succession.

Warny has been involved with zoological conservation for over 30 years. A former zoologist with The Nature Conservancy, New York Natural Heritage Program and National Audubon Society. He travels extensively to natural areas throughout the south as well as New York and the Midwest.

Meetings are free and held at Connetquot State Park and Preserve, Sunrise Highway, Oakdale. There is no parking fee. For information call 631-563- 7716 or online go to www.gsbas.com.
