Christ Church, the Episcopal Church in the Village of Babylon is pleased to announce the The Piper at Pentecost, by Euler & Lehrman, at Christ Church Babylon.
Christ Church Babylon's Director of music/composer-in-residence Dr. Leonard J. Lehrman has written a piece for the church choir and flutist Nancy Hemendinger, a setting of the poem, The Piper, by Babylon poet and church choir member Karen J. Euler, which will be heard for the first time at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, June 4, as part of the celebration of Pentecost. The poem is a metaphorical meditation on the Holy Spirit.
The church is located at 12 Prospect St. in Babylon, across from the Babylon Public Library.
The choir is looking forward to singing the piece. Dr. Lehrman's music will also be heard at PeaceSmiths in Amityville Friday, May 19, and there again in November; in Boston June 11, in Israel, June 25 and July 1, and at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival in Cooperstown, New York, August 25. He and the choir are also looking forward later this year to celebrating, musically, the installation of Father Nigel Bousfield as priest-in-charge at Christ Church.
