Babylon School Librarian Jane Herbst honored
Babylon Junior-Senior High School Librarymedia specialist Jane Herbst has been awarded the 2006 SSLMA (Suffolk School Library Media Association) Achievement Award. During the event, held at the Village Crossroads Restaurant in Calverton, she was praised for her "outstanding contribution to the school library media profession." SSLMA is a regional professional association with over 100 members.
Herbst joined Babylon Schools in 1991. She previously served as an instructor at Long Island University, a Children's Services librarian at the Sachem Public Library, and as a library specialist in the South Huntington and Sachem School Districts. She has been published in the School Library Media Activities Monthly, which feature articles on multi-disciplinary approaches to curriculum units. She holds a masters degree in library and information sciences.
