Good Samaritan golf classic a success

The ninth annual Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center Golf Classic, for the first time ever, was held on two courses simultaneously. It was a tremendous success with almost 300 golfers participating. The weather was golf perfect and close to $330,000 was raised for health care professional education.

Playing at Southward Ho, Michael J. Benanti, MD, Wan C. Kim, MD, Ed Raven and Jim Sullivan won first place in the competition and at Island Hills, Mike Aronica, Fred Theobald, Gary Cioni and Mike Swift, guests of Graphic Paper Company, won first place, with all winners receiving flat screen TVs. Second and third place foursomes won camcorders and IPod Nanos, respectively. Many exciting raffle prizes, such as a trip to Las Vegas for two, a 32 inch TV, gas barbecue grill and more as well as a cash prize were awarded. A live auction was also held.

This year's classic sponsor was Astoria Federal Savings.
