Lindenhurst Marching Band to host home show

On Saturday, October 14, the Lindenhurst Marching Band will host six other local schools for a U.S. Scholastic Band Association marching band competition. The competition will take place at Lindenhurst Middle School (rain or shine) and will begin at 5 p.m. Cost of admission is $5 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens, and children under five are free. Other schools that will perform besides Lindenhurst include Copiague, Deer Park, Hicksville, Division Avenue, Garden City, and Sachem.

For the show's finale, the Lindenhurst Marching Band, directed by Kevin Pike, is set to dazzle the audience with a unique performance titled, The Show Must Go On. The circus-themed show includes the songs The Clown, Entry of the Gladiators, Send in the Clowns, and "Pagliacci. Lindenhurst's performance is sure to offer a few surprises for the audience, as well.

The Lindenhurst Marching Band and Color Guard put in many hours over the summer to perfect their show for 2006. After numerous practices, the group is ready and eager to perform for their fellow students and Lindenhurst residents. Band Director Kevin Pike said, "All students involved in the marching band have a great attitude; they are all very upbeat, dedicated, and a hard-working group of students."

Paul Miele, president of the Band Parents' Association states, "The band would love to see as many Lindenhurst residents as possible come and support our students. The home show will offer an entertaining evening for all in attendance and gives us all a chance to show our "Lindy Pride."
