Long time Deer Park School District Clerk retires after 30 years
For the Deer Park community, July 1976 not only connotes the bicentennial of our country, it also marks the month and year that Gerri Musachio began her longtime relationship with the Deer Park School District. As district clerk for 30 years, the longest in Deer Park history, Musachio has seen many changes and many faces throughout her tenure. She has worked with more than 40 Board of Education members, eight Board presidents, and six superintendents, and provided a continuity and institutional memory throughout it all.
"So often in the conduct of school business we have to research records and history in order to come upon a decision. Gerri has eased this process, and her expertise has been invaluable to the Board," said Board of Education Mike Oddo. "She will be greatly missed."
Gerri and her husband, Paul, have lived in Deer Park for more than 36 years, and all three of her children are Deer Park High School graduates. She is looking forward to traveling and taking up golf, and visiting with her nine grandchildren. She also plans on remaining active within the community-her dedication to many local civic and other organizations are numerous. She is a Eucharistic minister at St. Cyril and Methodius, a member of the Rosary Altar Society, the Good Samaritan Guild and the Sons of Italy. Formerly active in the Republican Club, she is also retired from her position as a legislative aide to the New York State Assembly.
"My home and heart are in Deer Park...I have roots here," said Gerri, "and I'm looking forward to staying involved in the schools and within the community."
