Writers' Block Magazine wins award

Magazine advisor Matt Pasca announced that the Bay Shore High School literary magazine, the Writers' Block, was presented with the first place award from the American Scholastic Press Association. The judges remarked that: "Your magazine shows the efforts of talented and creative editors, writers, artists, photographers, layout designers, staff members and advisor." The reviewer considered

the work to be an outstanding overall example of a scholastic publication in format, content and presentation. In addition to this distinction, the magazine also received a rank of "Excellent" in the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines. The editors are Greg Caiola and Kelly Sclafani.
