The North Babylon High School orchestras recently took gold medals home for their recent performances at the 2006 NYSSMA Major Organizations Festival.

The 9th grade string orchestra played three pieces which included Prairie Trail composed by Peter Bishop, The Harmonious Blacksmith Suite by Handel/Isaac and Fanfare and Celebration by John Caponegro. The students performed at a level 3 and received a gold award after playing for the judges.

The high school string orchestra received a gold medal after playing three pieces. The students played Air for Strings by Norman Dello Joio, Don Quixote Suite by George Telemann and Opus 44 #3 by Paul Hindemith.

Teacher Mr. DePaola said the students have worked hard all year and this recognition was very gratifying.
