Edward J. Lantier, who began his professional career as a shop teacher in the West Islip School District and retired as well-loved and well-respected guidance counselor in 1978, died June 17, 2006. He was 83 years old.

According to his family, in the 1960's he spent most of his career in the high school and the Beech Street School and had lived in Oakdale.

Mr. Lantier leaves behind his children: Jackie Kane, Kelly Oettinger, Kate Patrice and Kevin; as well as his eleven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores.

Mr. Lantier reposed at the Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Highway, West Sayville on June 21, 2006. A Funeral Mass was held June 22, 2006 at St. John Nepomucene R.C. Church, Bohemia followed by interment in V.A. National Cemetery at Calverton.
