Albina Janet Cross Vanderbeck, of Brightwaters, died June 1, 2006. She was 84 years old.

Mrs. Vanderbeck was a Past Suffolk County Chairman of the American Legion ladies Auxiliary, active in Suffolk County Cub Scouting and valedictorian of Altona High School in upstate New York.

Survivors include her husband, Edward; her children Albina Evans, Edward, Joseph and James Vanderbeck; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and her siblings Dorothy Wood and Hilda Brassard Marion. Her brother Arnold Cross predeceased her.

Mrs. Vanderbeck reposed at the Overton Funeral Home, Inc., 172 Main St., Islip. A funeral service was said Monday, June 5, 2006 at the funeral home. Interment was in Long Island National Cemetery at Calverton.
