Babylon High School student named National Merit Scholarship finalist
Babylon High School senior Christine Goodbody, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. She entered the competition last year, along with 1.3 million entrants, and was one of 50,000 identified as earning the highest PSAT/ NMSQT scores (critical reading, math, and writing skills), qualifying her for recognition in the prestigious national program. Last September, she was among 16,000 students, or approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers, to be notified of qualifying as a semifinalist, identifying her as one of the highest scorers in New York State. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship, Goodbody needed to advance to finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements. This month, she was notified she has advanced to finalist standing, joining 15,000 of her peers nationally. Scholarship winners will be announced this spring.
