Anderson, County police officer
Harry Anderson was a dedicated 23-year Suffolk County Police Officer in the Bay Shore area. For 17 years he worked in Car 304 and for four years he rode in Car 317. He was very proud of his career, according to his family.
Harry L. Anderson died January 17, 2006 at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was 65 years old.
Before he relocated to South Carolina eight years ago, Mr. Anderson lived on Thompson Drive in Bay Shore for 24 years and on Ashroken Boulevard for several more. He was a veteran in the U.S. Airforce who loved to play golf and spend time with his family, according to his daughter, Kim.
When his children were young he also coached Bay Shore Little League.
Mr. Anderson leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Ellen; his children: Brian J. of Virginia, Kim E. Michaluk and her husband Paul of West Islip, Shawn L. of West Islip and Meg M. Hatzidakis and her husband Gus of Lake Grove; his grandchildren: Lauren, Ashley, Emily and Alexandra; his siblings: Tom of Kings Park, Donna Cassano of Islip, Lee of Islip, Debbie of Islip, Michael of Islip, Roy of E. Islip, Denise Naab of Patchogue and Tracey McDonald of Patchogue. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert and Patricia.
Mr. Anderson reposed at the Frederick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral WestIslip Funeral Home. A Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial was said St. Patrick’s R.C. Church on January 20, 2006 followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton.
