North Babylon teacher receives mini-grant award
Michelle Davis, at Parliament Place Elementary School in the North Babylon UnionFree School District, was recently named the MiniGrant Award recipient from OWL Teacher Center. She was awarded the mini-grant as a result of her application which detailed how she could best use the money to help her students with the New York State Learning Standards.
The OWL Teacher Center is a center open to all faculty in select school districts on Long Island. They offer various graduate and in-service courses, as well as workshops for staff development.
The mini-grant was approved for $600 which will be used to fund a workshop for third and fourth grade students and hosted by author, Josephine Nobisson. Nobisson is the author of many books including Hot Cha-Cha, Forest Fires and Grandma’s Scrapbook.
Davis has been with the North Babylon School District since 1995. She received both her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Hofstra University. She is dually certified, with both her elementary education certification and a reading certification obtained from New York State. Davis resides in Lindenhurst with her husband and their son.
