The Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives and the First Precinct are investigating a motor vehicle pursuit of a 48-yearold North Massapequa woman that extended into Nassau County and resulted in the injury of two police officers when she intentionally rammed into the police car.

At approximately 2:30

a.m., Feb. 22, two First Precinct Officers observed a 2002 Subaru traveling on North 22nd Street, Wheatley Heights, without headlights. When they pulled the vehicle over with their marked police car, they observed that the driver, a female, appeared to be intoxicated. The subject, later identified as Clotilda BrunoMcDonald, age 48, of 242 North Delaware Avenue, North Massapequa, drove off at a high rate of speed and was pursued by officers from the First Precinct.

The pursuit proceeded over various roadways, including Straight Path, Southern State Parkway, and eventually the Seaford-Oyster Bay Parkway, where Bruno-McDonald intentionally rammed a marked Suffolk County Police vehicle that was chasing her. The two police officers in that car, Ken Smith and Chris Dietrich, were injured in the collision and the vehicle was damaged extensively. Bruno-McDonald’s vehicle then went onto the grassy area adjoining the roadway and she was taken into custody.

Bruno-McDonald will be charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and reckless driving for her actions within Suffolk County and charges are being filed in Nassau County for Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts), Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, all felonies. She will be arraigned on the Nassau charges first.
