Dear Editor:

The fourth grade at Aviston Elementary, located in south Illinois, is learning about the United Stated and the different environments, climates, resources and highlights found in each region. The kids in the class think it would be fun to receive postcards, souvenirs, resources or any information about our great country from each of the 50 states.

We hope people who read this letter will be interested in mailing our class items pertaining to their state.

Our address is Mrs. Niemeyer’s Fourth Grade, Aviston Elementary, 350 South Hull St., Aviston, Illinois 62216.

A sincere “Thank You” to anyone who is able to contribute. We appreciate the excitement you will add to our learning experience. Mrs. Niemeyer’s Fourth Grade Class Aviston Elementary School 350 South Hull St., Aviston, Illinois 62216 Dear Editor:

County Line Road is a “traffic time bomb” about to explode. So far, citizens of Amityville, except for a notice sent by Superintendent De Sorbe, have not been told what is about to happen.

A telephone call to the Town of Oyster Bay, 516624-6200, brought forth details of how the 212 families would exit from the 16 acre property bordered by Carman Road, Louden Avenue and County Line Road. The driveway from that proposed development would empty onto County Line Road.

If you live or drive on County Line Road, you know that two senior citizen developments, one just north of Sunrise Highway and a second just south of Sunrise Highway also empty onto County Line Road.

Just how many hundred additional vehicles are the Town fathers for both Amityville and for Oyster Bay planning to accommodate on a two-lane County Line Road?

Fred Laing,

Cindy Sheehan’s thinking is flawed when she blames President Bush for her son’s death in Iraq. That is like blaming President Kennedy for the death of 57,000 G.Is in Vietnam.

The United States government was not responsible for 911 and lets put the blame where it belongs. The bad guys are the blood thirsty Arab militants who want to wipe us out. The good guys are George W. Bush and our service men and women.

Let’s not blame America first and let’s get behind President Bush and our military volunteers. They deserve our full support and thanks.

bomb on County Line Road Dear Editor:

I fully agree with the letter writer in your December 21, 2005 issue about the absurd amount of decorations some people plop on their lawns and roofs at Christmas time. The title of the letter should have been “Too much gaudiness,” not “Too much Christmas.”

If you have ever seen some of the department store windows in Manhattan at Christmas time, what is beautiful about them is that each window has a “theme.” There is nothing attractive about a hodgepodge of Santas, Nativity scenes, snowmen, elves, reindeer, toy soldiers, candy canes, stars, waddling penguins, Winnie the Poohs and football mascots all jumbled together in the midst of flashing lights. Worse yet is the myriad of deflated lumpies sprawled on lawns in the daytime.

There are many beautifully and tastefully decorated homes here in Massapequa Park, where the owners are not into overkill with “stuff.” These are the home I and my family and friends enjoy driving around to see at Christmas time.
