Members of the fifth and sixth grade Student Council at Babylon Memorial Grade School in December held a fund-raiser titled “Hats ON for the Holidays.” The children wore hats all day long seasonal hats, holiday hats, personally designed hats while making donations of $1-$3 for the privilege. With the $800 they raised, 12 holiday stockings were filled with toys, candy and $20 gift certificates to Toys R Us, which were delivered to Babylon children whose families are experiencing difficult times. The project was overseen by district social worker Linda Rich. Additionally, gifts were purchased for children at Good Samaritan Hospital Pediatrics Ward and four more youngsters were adopted as Angels from the Salvation Army.
