Students in Miss Thiel’s class at Forest Avenue Elementary School in West Babylon recently participated in Scholastic’s Read for 2006 program. Parents, administrators, teachers and staff joined students in reading their favorite books for at least 2,006 seconds. The goal of the program is to encourage reading as a tool for a successful future. Shown in the photo is Superintendent Mel Noble reading to the students in Miss Thiel’s class.

Suffolk County Clerk Ed Romaine recently swore in newly reelected Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas J. Spota, III in Riverhead.

Running unopposed, Spota won re-election and began his second term of four years on January 1.

The District Attorney is the public’s advocate in the criminal justice system and the first line of defense against those whose acts and conduct serve notice on society that they are not fit to live amongst us.

Shown in the photo, left to right, are Suffolk County Clerk Ed Romaine and Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas J. Spota III.
