West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition makes donation to Cold Spring Harbor labs for breast cancer research

Recently, members of the Board of Directors of the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition for LI, Inc. (WIBCC) visited Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories (CSHL) to present a $10,000 donation to ROMA research at the Lab. ROMA stands for Representational Oligonucleotide Microarray Analysis and was identified by CSHL scientists Michael Wigler, Ph.D and Robert Lucito, Ph.D. This revolutionary new technique, which combines RDA and DNA technology to help increase the speed with which scientists can detect genetic alterations that lead to cancer, helps to identify and characterize genes that cause breast and ovarian cancer.
