"Teen Read Week" challenges Lindenhurst Middle school students to read all they can
Lindenhurst Middle School recently celebrated Teen Read Week, challenging all students to read as much as they could within one week. The three students in each grade who clocked the most reading time received savings bonds donated by Washington Mutual Bank in Lindenhurst. The first place readers each received a $100 bond, while the second and third place students were given $50 savings bonds. In addition, the top ten students in each grade were rewarded with a pizza party to celebrate their dedication to reading.
Sixth-grade student Amanda Oliver, who was the top reader among all sixth-graders, said, "I first decided to participate inTeen Read Week because I like to read the Series of Unfortunate Events books. When I found out there was money you could win on top of that, I went nuts!"
The Lindenhurst School District would like to congratulate the following top readers: Grade six - Amanda Oliver, first place; Andrew Khanija, second place and Jennifer Kobelski, third place. In grade seven the top readers are Ryan Rosado, first place; Jennifer Mallon, second place and Zuzanna Kraszewska, third place. In grade eight the top readers are Meghan Keeler, first place, Tom Schrank, second place
and Heather Johnston, third place.
