At its last meeting, the Lindenhurst Town Board approved a public hearing on the issue of creating a business improvement district (BID) in the Village of Lindenhurst. That public hearing will take place in the Lindenhurst Town Hall on Tuesday December 20, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. A business improvement district is an agreement between business owners of a certain area to contribute money that will be used to improve the business district and make it more attractive to consumers.

"I really feel a BID will be very beneficial and I’d like to see it go through," said Lindenhurst Mayor Tom Brennan.

At the public hearing, citizens may publicly express their views on this issue. Following a 30-day waiting period, the board will vote on whether to approve the BID. If the board votes to approve, the proposal is then sent to New York State for approval. Advocates of a Lindenhurst BID are hoping to have the process completed and the BID formed by March 1, 2006.
