West Babylon students link up to enhance learning

Through a partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), seventh and eighth grade students at West Babylon Junior High School were granted access to the cameras on the International Space Station. Project EarthKAM is a program between NASA and local schools to provide students with the unique perspective of studying the Earth from space. Students were able to take pictures of various points on the Earth by uploading GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude) to the EarthKAM computers. The students are currently studying a unit on rocketry which integrates the subjects of physics, trigonometry, geography, astronomy, Earth Science and technology. The unit offers students the chance to construct and launch their own rockets.
